Seasonal Management Tips
Spring has arrived. Time to conduct a spring checklist on your swine facility site!!!!

A few tips:
  1. Grease all pulleys and winches on curtain cables.
  2. Inspect all electrical equipment
    1. Electric panels
    2. Are breakers labeled legibly?
    3. Are safety covers in place?
  3. Water
    1. Check all pressure regulators, gauges, and solenoids. Replace if defective.
    2. Make sure all misters are working before the summer heat hits.
  4. Feed System
    1. Inspect feed bins:
      1. Are ladders secure?
      2. Are feed bins lids shutting properly and securely?
  5. Monitor pit and lagoon levels.
    1. Pump out if it won’t make it until harvest.
  6. Is there a rock barrier around the buildings?
  7. Do I need to seed grass around my new site?
  8. Driveways – Are they functional after the thaw? Do they need more rock to allow trucks to get in and out of sites?
  9. Bait stations are placed and filled.
  10. Test backup generator and alarm system
  11. Check inlets. Are they free and clear to allow good airflow?
  12. Check all fans. Make sure they are running properly. Grease and make repairs.
