Agronomy Internship Program
The Farmers Coop Society (FCS) Agronomy Department has a well-established and structured summer internship program available during the summer months of May through August. This internship program allows for hands-on, real-world agronomy experiences in a Cooperative setting. The program also includes an assigned project for each intern to work on throughout the summer. The goal of these projects is to develop agronomy knowledge and skills while providing an opportunity to creatively take charge of how to present the findings at the end of the summer.
Our Agronomy Internship Program goal is to create a hands-on learning experience for anyone who is interested in agronomy, general agriculture, precision agriculture, and/or sales. Our internship can be tailored to the intern’s interests and experience level to help maximize the learning experience. It’s a great opportunity for a summer income while also enhancing your real-world agronomy experience and enjoying your time while doing just that.
The FCS Agronomy Internship Program works side-by-side with our Agronomy Sales team during the growing season. You will be working closely with an Agronomist and independently as well. Interns often help develop marketing tools and/or collect data that possibly will be used for future sales activities in the agronomy department. The best part of the program is that you can build your network connections and work experience in the agriculture industry. This allows you to be a more desirable candidate in an increasingly competitive job market after graduation.
Our goal is to provide three summer internships for the summer of 2023. We would likely locate interns in Boyden, Ireton, Sanborn, or Sioux Center, Iowa. Interns would report directly to an Agronomist at their determined location while working with the Agronomy Department Manager, Precision Ag team, and possibly outside company reps who sponsor the intern’s projects. Interns are expected to participate in agronomy sales meetings, attend plot events, and work with other interns to accomplish project goals. At the end of the summer, the intern will also be responsible for giving a presentation on their project and an overall summary of what they learned during the internship. At the end of the summer, the individual will be evaluated on performance by the local agronomist.

- Develop potential future FCS agronomy employees
- Develop local FCS agronomic trials/data potentially used for future marketing tools/information.
- Create a summer internship program that attracts the best possible candidates
Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Good attitude and willingness to learn
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to work well in a team setting
- High School Diploma
