Farmers Coop Society and The How-To Building Center have partnered with the City of Sioux Center to provide more affordable housing in the Sioux Center Community. 

The past several years seen the very real need for more affordable housing in Sioux Center and the surrounding communities. Farmers Coop Society saw an opportunity to utilize The How-To Building Center’s broad range of quality materials and services they offer at the store to help address this housing shortage. Materials and products such as lumber, windows, paint, and appliances as well as design services from The How-To Building Center will be used in these homes. Farmers Coop Society is partnering with local contractors to build these homes. 

On Monday, March 21^st excavation began on the first of two houses to be built this year. Both homes are located in the Country View Heights North development, North of the new Sioux Center High School. They will be over 1,400 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the main floor with an open concept kitchen and living room. The homes also include a two-stall garage and an unfinished basement with room to add three more bedrooms and another bathroom. 

Farmers Coop Society and The How-To Building Center plan to build two homes in Sioux Center this year and have plans for future homes in Sioux Center and other surrounding communities.

Sioux Center’s growth is driven from its continued growth of its business and industry base and the progressive mindset of city leaders. Farmers Coop Society/How-To Building Center not only want people to come work in Sioux Center, but to live in Sioux Center as well. We hope this project will provide solutions to the high demand for housing created by our flourishing community.
