Student Tours

As your local cooperative, Farmers Coop Society actively strives to invest in the future of agriculture, this can be seen through facility upgrades, innovative programs, and community involvement. Our state-of-the-art facilities allow for a unique opportunity around community and youth involvement, many classes, both on the high school and college level come to tour our Boyden feed mill. One of the most recent visitors is Dordt’s swine production class.

Our Sr. Director of Feed, Jared Terpstra, leads students on tours through FCS’s feed facility in Boyden. Jared begins in the office explaining his position and professional background and the many opportunities that Farmers Coop Society offers in the way of internships and full-time employment. As the group leaves the office he describes the entire feed production process from field to animal. On the tour Jared gives an insider look on everything from the pits to the control room. While showing the production process he dives into discussions on the importance of selecting the right feed for your livestock, giving a well-rounded look into what it means to work with feed.

As a cooperative we take pride in our ability to help our local communities through education. We want to continue to be involved with the next generation of ag! Feel free to reach out on behalf of your FFA chapter, 4-H club, or vocational ag class, we are eager to support your organization!
