Much of the focus on fungicide applications in recent years has been on corn, driven by diseases such as Southern Rust and the emergence of Tar Spot. However, fungicide applications in soybeans have a long history of delivering consistent results and a positive return on investment.
Driving the Top Line
Although soybean revenue per acre has trailed corn for several years, the goal remains the same, maximize the top line by making sound investments with a strong return. At a soybean price of $10.50 per bushel, fungicide investments may only need to provide an additional 0.5 to 3.8 bushels per acre, depending on the products and application method selected, to generate a positive ROI.
Pair Fungicides with Yield Enhancers
The ideal timing for soybean fungicide applications is typically between the R2 and R3 growth stages. This application timing also provides an excellent opportunity to include yield-enhancing products such as micronutrients, plant growth regulators, and biologicals that can incrementally improve yield potential.
Many of these products also qualify for the 2026 Innovation Assurance Program, offering a no-cost yield warranty when paired with qualifying products.
Flexible Application Options
Soybean fungicides can be self-applied or custom applied through FCS. Our custom application options include high-clearance ground equipment as well as quality aerial and UAV application services through our partnership with R&M Spraying. All application services are conveniently billed through FCS, providing a seamless experience.
Additional Program Benefits
FCS also offers programs designed to help maximize the value of your fungicide investment.
Qualifying soybean fungicide and yield enhancer purchases are eligible for 0% financing until January 20, 2027, for approved FCS accounts.
Growers can also participate in the 2026 Grain + Fungicide Program, which provides:
- A $0.10 per bushel grain credit on up to 70 bushels per acre for qualifying fungicide-treated acres.
- A $0.15 per bushel grain credit on qualifying acres where fungicides are paired with eligible yield enhancers.
Talk with your FCS agronomist to learn more about these programs and determine which options best fit your operation.
